Occupational Therapy Services

How Can I Help?

The ColorfullyEnthused* Therapy Studio is a pediatric private practice in Westerville, Ohio that provides quality and individualized occupational therapy services with enthusiasm and care, to develop the skills kids need for school and life. We provide comprehensive evaluations, consultation, and treatment sessions to support your child’s performance and independence in the activities of their everyday life by:

  • fostering independence in daily living skills such as dressing, grooming and feeding
  • improving fine motor, eye-hand coordination, and visual perception such as in the contexts of handwriting, typing, drawing, and coloring
  • developing self-regulation skills to support sensory processing differences, behavior, attention, stress management, rest and sleep
  • cultivating executive functioning skills, including planning, organization, and work habits
  • facilitating community engagement, leisure exploration, and social skills
  • supporting positive mental health by identifying emotions, sitting with hard emotions, shifting emotions, and engaging in coping skills

The ColorfullyEnthused Therapy Studio specializes in working with children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old, with a focus on self-regulation, executive function, and visual-motor skills.

Your child does not need a doctor’s referral or a diagnosis to receive or benefit from occupational therapy services, however I do have experience in treating diagnoses of ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, Apraxia/Dyspraxia, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Cerebral Palsy, Depression, Developmental Delays, Down Syndrome, Dysgraphia, Development Coordination Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and Sensory Processing Differences.

As an occupational therapist, I use meaningful activities of everyday life to support clients’ performance and participation within the following areas of occupation: Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), Education/School, Work, Rest & Sleep, Play, Leisure, and Social Participation.

Through task analysis, I identify where and/or why the breakdown in performance is occurring and then provide intervention to either:

  • 1) improve the identified skill deficit (visual or fine motor coordination, gross motor coordination, visual tracking/scanning/perception, body awareness, attention/focus, executive functioning, motor planning, energy/arousal levels, sensory processing, etc) – OR –
  • 2) modify/adapt the task or the environment to support successful performance

Costs of Services

  • The Evaluation – $285, one time fee*
The initial evaluation is an important first step in therapy. It helps me understand your child’s strengths and areas where they may need support. This also gives me a better idea of how your child experiences the world, so I can create goals that will make the most difference for them.
    • The evaluation includes:
      • A review of your child’s medical and school history
      • A look at their development
      • Tests or assessments to measure their skills and abilities (if needed)
      • Observations of how they function day-to-day
      • A conversation or questionnaire with you to learn about your child’s daily life and what concerns you most
    • If your child has an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) or medical records, I’ll ask for those to get a fuller picture of your child.
    • At the end of the evaluation, I’ll give you a written report with my findings and suggest a plan for moving forward.
    • * Note: If your child has had an evaluation with an occupational therapist in the past three years and you have a copy of the report, your evaluation fee reduces to $150.
  • Treatment Sessions – $80 per weekly session
Depending on your child’s work tolerance and the goals identified through their Plan of Care, I provide both 1:1 and group sessions that consist of two or more children.
    • Progress Monitoring
The most important part of therapy is making sure your child is improving. During each session, I’ll keep track of your child’s progress and make changes to the plan if needed.

At the end of your child’s therapy sessions, I’ll review their progress to see if they’ve reached the goals we set. If needed, we’ll adjust the plan and decide if continuing therapy is the best choice for your child.

  • Consultation Services
    • Document Review
If you’d like me to review your child’s school documents (like their Evaluation Team Record or Individualized Education Plan), I can help! I’ll provide feedback on these documents for $10 per page.

    • School Meeting Support + Debrief
School meetings about your child’s needs can be overwhelming. With over 10 years of experience, I can attend the meeting with you, work with the team, and speak up for your child. Afterward, we’ll meet to go over the discussion and I’ll give you feedback and suggestions. This service starts at $250 and may increase depending on the length of the meeting.

Accepted Forms of Payment

I charge according to the costs provided above and accept cash, checks, and credit cards at the time of the appointment. I do not bill insurances, however, I provide you with a Superbill at the end of each month that you can submit to your health insurance company to seek reimbursement. If you plan to seek reimbursement, I suggest calling the number on the back of your insurance card to inquire about your “out of network” therapy benefits and learn how to submit an out-of-network reimbursement claim. I also accept payment from Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Occupational therapy is a super fun field that combines creativity and science to help people with everyday tasks. We use meaningful daily activities—known as occupations—to improve health and participation in life. Occupations (meaningful daily activities) are used therapeutically as both the means and the outcome to enhance individuals’ performance within the activities of their everyday life.

Here’s a blog post that provides a fuller description of the profession I love!

DOES MY CHILD QUALIFY?

Maybe you see some areas where your your child could use a boost, but aren’t sure whether or not they’d “qualify” for OT services.

Good news! In the private practice world, qualification isn’t necessary!

Your child does not need a diagnosis in order to benefit from work with an occupational therapist. Diagnoses are often defined by a compilation of specific skill-deficits.  Although diagnoses can help us understand some aspects of a person, at The ColorfullyEnthused* Therapy Studio, it’s not about diagnoses or skill deficits.

We view children as whole beings: living, breathing entities who are capable-of-growth! With or without a diagnosis, we meet a child right where they are, identify the things they want or need to do, assess where the breakdown’s occurring, and find a way to help them achieve success.

AGES, SKILLS AND DIAGNOSES

I specialize in treating children and youth between the ages of 5 and 12, in the areas of visual and fine motor skills, visual spatial skills and visual perception, attention, executive functioning, self care, self-regulation, study skills, stress management, and general mental health.

Although a diagnosis is not necessary to justify the need for treatment, I’ve worked with children of a variety of diagnoses including dysgraphia, developmental coordination disorder, anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD), autism (ASD), Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and cognitive impairment.

Check out the services I offer and associated costs, as well as my page on policies, and then send me an email if you think I’d make a good fit for the needs of your child: colorfullyenthused@gmail.com—I can’t wait to hear from you!
