Description
Prewriting skills, such as drawing lines and shapes, are the foundational skills that a child must master before they’re able to form letters or numbers. No matter your student/child’s age, start where they are now, and continue to move forward with each successful mastery. The typical developmental sequence of forming prewriting lines and shapes is as follows:
- Vertical Lines by 2 years of age:
 - Horizontal Lines by 2.5 years of age
 - Circles by 3 years of age
 - Crosses by 3.5 – 4 years of age
 - Squares by 4 years of age
 - Diagonal Lines by 4.5 years of age
 - X’s by 5 years of age
