Description
(written 6/5/2020) Something I keep repeating to myself is a quote I read a few days ago. I’m not sure exactly where I read it, I think it might have been on Christy Wright’s website. Anyway, it said something like: “You don’t have to get there fast, just keep putting one foot in front of another; take one step at a time — continuously move in a forward direction.” I keep repeating it to myself to reduce the pressure I feel in my chest that continues to build and fall with the ebb and flow of information about our city and the crazy amount of (late) hours that Jordan’s spending downtown. Simultaneously, I’ve felt a personal desire to push — to work harder and faster — in an effort for this ColorfullyEnthused* endeavor to make a positive difference in someone’s life sooner. I feel waves of energy and excitement, followed by moments of paralyzing grief, heaviness, and angst. So, I keep telling myself: “You don’t have to get there fast, just keep putting one foot in front of another; take one step at a time . . .” Maybe someone else needs to hear that too. Dory from “Finding Nemo” said it best. “Just keep swimming,” my friends. You don’t need to swim fast, just keep . . . swimming.
I decided to make this image purchasable here, in case you like it and/or know someone who’d benefit from keeping it around. You can download it and then either print it and frame it, or add it to any photo-made product. Also, I ran across this GREAT visual motor activity to do with your kids: draw Dory with step-by-step instructions and talk about what it means to “just keep swimming!”
