How Can I Help?
The ColorfullyEnthused* Therapy Studio is a pediatric private practice that provides quality and individualized occupational therapy services with enthusiasm and care, to develop the skills kids need for school and life. We provide comprehensive evaluations, consultation, and treatment sessions to support your child’s performance and independence in the activities of their everyday life by:
- fostering independence in daily living skills such as dressing, grooming and feeding
- improving fine motor, eye-hand coordination, and visual perception such as in the contexts of handwriting, typing, drawing, and coloring
- developing self-regulation skills to support sensory processing differences, behavior, attention, stress management, rest and sleep
- cultivating executive functioning skills, including planning, organization, and work habits
- facilitating community engagement, leisure exploration, and social skills
- supporting positive mental health by identifying emotions, sitting with hard emotions, shifting emotions, and engaging in coping skills
I specialize in working with children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old and have experience in treating diagnoses of ADD/ADHD, Anxiety, Apraxia/Dyspraxia, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Cerebral Palsy, Depression, Developmental Delays, Down Syndrome, Dysgraphia, Development Coordination Disorder, Intellectual Disability, and Sensory Processing Differences.
However, your child does not need a doctor’s referral or a diagnosis to receive or benefit from occupational therapy services.
As an occupational therapist, I use meaningful activities of everyday life to support clients’ performance and participation within the following areas of occupation: Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), Education/School, Work, Rest & Sleep, Play, Leisure, and Social Participation.
Through task analysis, I identify where and/or why the breakdown in performance is occurring and then provide intervention to either:
- 1) improve the identified skill deficit (visual or fine motor coordination, gross motor coordination, visual tracking/scanning/perception, body awareness, attention/focus, executive functioning, motor planning, energy/arousal levels, sensory processing, etc) or
- 2) modify/adapt the task or the environment to support successful performance
The Evaluation Process
The initial evaluation is an important first step of the therapy process. It provides insight into the strengths and weaknesses of your child, and allows me to gain a fuller picture of who your child is and how they function in the world. It also allows me to gather the information needed to make sound decisions in determining priorities and setting the goals that we aim to attain in our time together.
The evaluation process includes a comprehensive medical and educational history, developmental review, standardized testing or criterion-referenced assessments of your child’s performance skills and abilities as needed, informal observations of function, and a parent interview or questionnaire that allows me insight into your child’s daily life, as well as your priorities of concern. For clients with established Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and/or medical records, I do request copies of that information to help me better understand your child as a whole.
At the end of the evaluation process, you will be provided a written report of findings and implications, as well as a recommended plan of care.
Treatment Sessions
Depending on your child’s work tolerance and the goals identified through their Plan of Care, I provide both 30-minute, 1:1 sessions and 45-min group sessions that consist of two or more children.
Progress Monitoring
What is therapy without progress? The most important aspect of therapy is ensuring that the quality of the care provided is reflected in progress made! Throughout therapy sessions, data will be collected, progress will be continually reviewed, and adjustments will be made accordingly. Treatment sessions are scheduled in sets of 8-12 sessions.
At the end of a set of 8-12 sessions, the initially established plan of care is reviewed to validate that progress is being made, to identify changes that may need to occur, and to determine whether we continue to make a good fit!
Consultation Services
My state-based licensure does not allow me to work with clients directly, across state lines. However, I am permitted to provide consultative services to parents and other caregivers. The services outlined below are therefore applicable to those who live both inside and outside the state of Ohio, and are available whether or not you choose to move forward with direct, individualized therapy for your child.
- LIVE, “CHAT WITH AN OT” SESSIONS: Perhaps your child’s teacher mentioned something concerning and you’d like to talk it out with someone who specializes in child development or, maybe your child’s demonstrating a new behavior that you’d like feedback on. “Chat with an OT” sessions are available through either a live texting exchange or a phone call, during which we can talk about whatever’s on your mind and problem-solve together, in-the-moment, and I can provide recommendations for strategies to improve their independence, behavior, and success at home and school.
- DOCUMENTATION REVIEW: Whether or not I’m providing your child with therapy services, I’d be happy to review and provide feedback on their school-based documents, including their Evaluation Team Record (ETR) and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- SCHOOL MEETING PRESENCE + DEBRIEF: School meetings, where ETRs and IEPs are discussed among a group of staff members who are experts in the content can feel overwhelming. After a decade of experience in these meetings, I’m happy to attend with you, collaborate with the team, advocate on your child’s behalf, and meet with you afterward, to debrief and provide feedback and recommendations, as needed.
Accepted Forms of Payment
At this time, I do not bill insurances; I am happy to provide a Superbill at the end of each session that you can submit to your health insurance to seek reimbursement. Services are paid privately by credit card, Venmo, or check. I also accept payment from Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
